Need help. unable to forward or compose new email messages?

I don't know what happened. I was trying to forward a message %26amp; I can click on send but the message want forward. I tried to type a new message %26amp; I am unable to type a single character.

Are you using the latest version of Internet Explorer? The html editing tool used by Yahoo! Mail is not compatible with all browsers. However, you can get around this by switching to plain text mode as described in the link below.

It means your Compose page has not fully loaded. Press F5 to force the page to reload. You might have to try this a few times before it will finally work.

Sounds like you need to switch to "plain text" mode for composing messages. You can do this by clicking the "Options" link in the upper right corner of Yahoo Mail, then click the "General Preferences" link and choose the "plain text" option for Composing Emails. Finally click the "Save" button.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. Try returning to the Classic version for now. I am also told that the mail is in fact there in your box and is being sent. It's simply invisible in all new mail. If you're using the original Classic Mail:

Mail page%26gt;%26gt;options (top right)%26gt;%26gt;scroll to and click on "general preferences". Now go down to *Composing Emails* and check the button by ---"compose with color and graphics"-----then click "save" at bottom of page.

If you're using the New Mail or updated version of Classic----there is a link on the composing page----"Rich Text or Plain Text"----that will enable or disable that bar.

In options on the mail page enter preferences. Scroll down and enable compose in color and graphics.

I was composing an email, clicked back to my inbox,then back to compose and it was gone how do I get it back?

Once you leave the compose page anything you had typed is gone because there is no save option. Its the same as if you had been disconnected it just disappears. Sorry.

On Yahoo mail, the folders are in the pane on the left side of the

screen. Mine is just under my "Inbox' folder. It should tell you how

many drafts are in it also. But sometimes when I move a composed letter to the draft folder it just dissapears into thin air. Sometimes it

is your control button not working right? or are you trying to copy with your mouse? highlight the selected area and press Control - C. that is the command to copy. Control - X is the command to cut. Control - V is the command to paste. if you're unable to cut/copy/paste with the commands or your mouse the selected area may be encrypted to not allow the user to copy/cut.

Reply:They should be available. Are you familiar with yahoo. There's a picture of a smiley on the tool bar that has italics, bold font, ect. If you click on it, it gives you emoticons, if you don't have it i guess you'll have to copy and paste from other locations.

Well, a signature is your name or something that comes up when the person you emailed sees the message. You can make one by going to MAIL OPTIONS and there should be a link that says SIGNATURE on it. What does bcc, and cc, mean when you compose an email?

They are from the old typewriter use. Before photocopiers were invented/common, typists had to insert a piece of carbon copy paper and a second thin blank sheet of paper (sometimes several sheets, with carbon between each). As the typewriter hit the paper with each letter it was copied through the carbon paper onto the second/third sheet etc. These were the carbon copies. Recipients of these were noted at the bottom of the letter as cc: (followed by their names or initials).

If the sender did not want the recipient of the top copy to know who else was getting a copy, they would type bcc: which meant 'blind carbon copy'. Only the recipient and the sender of the blind carbon copy knew that they had been sent it.

It works the same way with emails. When you list your cc: addresses, everyone knows who they are. The bcc: addresses are hidden from everyone else, even from the other bcc: recipients.

You probably set up a signature under your e-mail settings. It will show up the way you set it up to be. You can shut this feature off under settings or just manually delete that text. I hope this helps!

You may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky. Try this: clear your history, temporary files (these will take a while!) %26amp; cookies, restart the computer and retry. Hows come I cant get the "color" or "size" options ect to work on my Yahoo email compose page?

you have to click on it, then type to make it work, or highlight the text you want to format, than change the size etc

Reply:Using all CAPS is considered VERY impolite.

Write it in Word then make a case change before pasting it into email or yahoo.

Also, lower case is much easier to read!

Close browser and reopen it.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. Reply:Has not happened to me. But is happening to alot of people. Might be regional. I do wish people would say where they are. There could be local server failure.

However, most likely you need to update Java, Adobe Flash Player and Quicktime.

I do use Firefox Mozilla which seems to avoid most of these issues, although it might just be because I have the recent updates. Even at that I recently could not get yahoo videos, but updating the Flash Player fixed that.

Possible that your browser is hanging or freezing since you are unable to view the whole page of the compose mail page.Try this basic troubleshooting steps.

On your mail page,Go to the "Tools" menu located at the top most right corner of the page, choose "Internet Options." This opens the "Internet Options" window.

You want to be in the "General" tab, the first tab to the left along the top of this window. If you're not in this tab, select it.

Locate the "Temporary Internet Files" heading and click the "Delete Files" button within that section. This opens the "Delete Files" window.

In this window, either click "OK" directly, or, first check the box marked "Delete all offline content" if you'd like to do this as well鈥nd then click "OK." I had the same problem a month ago!! Go to the Tools tab at the top of your browser...go down to Internet Options....Hit the Delete Cookies button and Clear History Button....Then hit the Settings tab...Hit the View Files Button...Go to the top of the browser and go to the Edit tab and hit Select All...Then go up to the File tab and Hit Delete....it should fix the problem

Reply:i asked this same question two weeks ago and got only a few responses. Since then, more of the same question have poured in to Yahoo Answers. Search there for help. For now, it looks like the guy who said that they are closing down the photo mail was right. mine is gone and i think it was rude. they could have at least told us it is going to be removed. looks like we are forced to do it the slow way by choosing each photo individually (or we could all switch to google GMAIL).

yes many users are having trouble with their E-mail accounts, this is a yahoo glitch.

Yahoo is changing mail formats, due to the launch they are ready to make around Mid-end of this year for their new Universal profile.

They are working in the mail on sections. so you just have to be patient and keep trying.

One possibility: You may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky. Try this: clear your history, temporary files %26amp; cookies, reboot and retry. I鈥檝e had people tell me this worked, recently, others say it did not, so I guess is varies.

Another possibility is an incompatible browser; I've seen others mention this as a problem recently. You may need to upgrade your browser, switch to another one, or go back to regular Yahoo Mail (I'm assuming you have beta now!).

I'm on Windows and found that the Norton Internet Security Ad Blocker was logging a message at the same time that the Compose/Reply/Forward window failed to open:

Although, no portion of the Yahoo URL appears in the Ad Block site or URL list, disabling Ad Blocking allows for a successful compose and send.

Check for similar security applications on your Mac and see if disabling them temporarily provides relieve.

I've opened a case with Yahoo Customer Care to see if they can narrow down the problem further.

Yahoo and IE seem to be incompatible right now at medium to high cookie settings. You may access Yahoo Mail with a different browser, such as Firefox. Just type yahoo.mail.com in the address bar. I am able to get through with Firefox, and I hope you can too.

Or, you can set your cookies at the lowest possible setting, and that should work too. It bugs me to have to do this, but at least it will help you get your emails if you are browsing with Internet Explorer. You can always reset your cookies after accessing your email.
Reply:In our case it was the Ad Blocking feature listed under Nortons Anti-spam in our Norton's Security program. When we turned off the Ad Blocker yahoo mail compose and reply returned. the problem with doing that is you will have to put up with annoying ads that were otherwise blocked.

Many problems can be resolved (blank email text, cannot Compose/Reply, etc.) by the simple cleanup steps below:

1. Close all browser windows. 2. Open a new browser window. 3. Click on Tools at the top of your screen. 4. Click on the bottom choice - Internet Options. 5. On the Internet Options drop-down menu, go to the middle section titled Temporary Internet Files. 6. Delete all cookies (button in the middle) 7. Delete all temporary-files (button in the middle) - this step took about 3 minutes - patience! 8. Clear History (button on bottom right-hand corner) when done with all cleanups, click OK at the bottom of the Internet Options screen.

Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And what's happening to you is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. Their "tech support" is nothing but a joke right now. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems.

I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the whole time. If you don't have another acct.w/another provider besides Yahoo, I'd strongly advise to get one; it makes a good backup in case of problems like this.

Please see my posting from Fri. Jan. 12 under the heading "Anyone having problems of any kind w/Yahoo Mail, PLEASE READ THIS" for more info and on reporting problems to Yahoo.

And since that original posting, they've also sent another e-mail that they've escalated the problem (or should I say problems!) to their engineering department, which is an indication of major problems, and not just a minor S/W "glitch."

This is the new upgrade they did. I do not like it. I clicked on mail classic this morning and nothing happened. The OPT out button does not bring the old one back either. Look on your email page and it will say "Classic with a new Twist" click on it and it will show you all the changes they made. When something is not broken don't fix. I wish yahoo would go by that rule!!!

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. Suggested cures range from Update Adobe Flash Player and Javascript to clear IE7 cache, cookies, and browsing history. Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send recieve delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. I spent two hours on live help last night jumping through numerous virtual hoops, with no resolution but a promise it was being 'passed to engineering' and I would get an email from them in due course; (made me laugh as they wanted a screen dump of the problem of what happened when I clicked compose....but my 'compose function' to send it doesn't work! I had to send it via my OHs account.). Anyway no contact from 'engineering' today (I can read emails). Went back onto live 'help' to be told there were no time lines or targets for getting back to me and I had to basically wait and see if and when it gets solved. But its ok as I have been assured that they are working on it as a matter of 'urgency'......however they can't tell me even when I will be contacted by them so could be a day, a week...a month. "body" of the message where you would expect to find text, etc.

Move your mouse to the area of the expected "body" of the message and right-click...on

the menu that appears, click on "Encoding"...on the menu that appears, if "Auto Select"

has a check mark, leave it as is...if not click "Auto Select"; then this menu will

disappear...right click again in the "body" to cause the same menu to display again...then

click on "Western European (Windows)"...you should now be able to view the "body" of

all messages that you couldn't view before...obviously, if the problem somehow occurs

again, do the same procedure described above again. I have no idea how or why these

settings get "changed" or "corrupted" after everyday use, but apparently they sometimes

do.

Here's how:

Click the "Options" link in the upper right of your Mail page.

On the Options page, in the "Management" column, click on "General Preferences".

Find the "Composing E-mails" section, "Mode:", and choose "Compose messages as plain text".

Scroll to the bottom and click the "Save" button.

Now try it. Can you Compose, Reply to a message or Forward?

If so, great! We're done.

What browser are you using and which e-mail service are you referring to?

Most e-mail services are primarily Internet Explorer based, so they don't work exactly the same in other browsers. And example is Mozilla Firefox and Hotmail; they both have different features, but that's kind of a given since Microsoft and MSN have a "thing" together.

Did you check your settings to make sure you have your rich-text editor enabled?

Reply:I had the same problem since they upgraded yahoo. If when you hit reply, the message just gets bigger than look at the bottom of the page and their is a box that says to select message encoding. Once you select one, you can reply to messages. I still haven't been able to find a way to fix the compose message but it must also have something to do with the encoding.
