They are from the old typewriter use. Before photocopiers were invented/common, typists had to insert a piece of carbon copy paper and a second thin blank sheet of paper (sometimes several sheets, with carbon between each). As the typewriter hit the paper with each letter it was copied through the carbon paper onto the second/third sheet etc. These were the carbon copies. Recipients of these were noted at the bottom of the letter as cc: (followed by their names or initials).
If the sender did not want the recipient of the top copy to know who else was getting a copy, they would type bcc: which meant 'blind carbon copy'. Only the recipient and the sender of the blind carbon copy knew that they had been sent it.
It works the same way with emails. When you list your cc: addresses, everyone knows who they are. The bcc: addresses are hidden from everyone else, even from the other bcc: recipients.
What does bcc, and cc, mean when you compose an email?
CC is carbon copy - some say 'courtesy copy', and bcc is blind carbon copy - the person getting this does not get to see who else has received the mail.
Reply:"Blind Carbon Copy" doesn't date from the old typewriter days. It didn't arrive until word processing came along.
Reply:blind carbon copy and carbon copy ...old terminology when typewriters were all the rage. Blind means that you copy someone in without the recipient knowing
Reply:bcc - blind copy. No one else will see the email address if you bcc a copy to someone.
cc - carbon copy and all email address' will be visable.
Reply:BCC: stands for blind copy (you are sending an email to someone secretly that you don't want the other recipients to know about) and CC: stands for carbon copy.
Reply:carbon copy and blind carbon copy. Carbon copy is just to send a copy of the e-mail to this recipient and blind carbon copy means that no one else can see that this person has received a copy.
Reply:BCC stands for "Blind Carbon Copy" and CC stands for "Carbon Copy". A carbon copy is essentially including someone in on an email that you're sending to someone else. A blind carbon copy means that the original recipient of the email cannot see that you have sent a copy of the email to someone else.
Alternatively, you can put ALL the recipients in the BCC field if you don't want each recipient to see the other people's email addresses.
Reply:CC means "Carbon Copy". This is used to let your receiver know who else received the same e-mail.
BCC, on the other hand, means "Blind Carbon Copy". This one is used to let your receiver know that you have sen the same e-mail to another person / persons but the names of the other receiver won't be seen.
Reply:These initials derive from the old paper and carbon paper days. BCC means Blind Carbon Copy meaning the person you sent the original email to cannot see who you send a copy to (its blind),,CC means carbon copy, the person you send the email to can see who you send the copy to.
Reply:cc-carbon copy, when you send an email to more then one person and they can see who you have sent it to and bcc- blind carbon copy which means when you send an email to more than one person but they cant see who else you have sent it to

You probably set up a signature under your e-mail settings. It will show up the way you set it up to be. You can shut this feature off under settings or just manually delete that text. I hope this helps!

You may possibly have a corrupt cache file -- it makes all KINDS of things go wonky. Try this: clear your history, temporary files (these will take a while!) %26amp; cookies, restart the computer and retry. Here is the HELP link for how to do this in different browsers: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya...
Reply:try refreshing the page. that works sometimes

When I choose the option "compose" to write an email, why am I not getting the box to type my email message?
When I choose the option to "compose" a message, I get the following: boxes for the email address to send the message to, cc line, and subject line. However, there is not a location for me to type a message. I can read emails that come in to me, but cannot send a new message.
